Black Monday?

DAILY MARKET OVERVIEW
Mounting Macro Risks
👋 Hey, Crypto Enthusiasts! A lot is happening in the market right now so let’s dive right in!

Another week begins, and crypto remains in the middle of a choppy correction.
Oil prices are rising, inflation remains a concern after the latest data, geopolitical tensions are escalating, and equities are taking a hit.
Despite all this, crypto, especially BTC, continues to show relative strength. 🐂

Many traders were calling for a “Black Monday Selloff” once US markets opened today. However for crypto, we think much of that fear was already priced in during the weekend. By the time Monday arrived, some of the panic had faded.
So, where do we go from here ⁉️
As we've mentioned in previous newsletters, we expect this correction to take time to play out.
BTC has already reached our first dip-buying zone around $80K, while ETH has approached $2.3K. These levels could hold, allowing the market to slowly grind higher from here.
However, with macro headwinds still building, we expect volatility and choppy price action to continue. That's why DCA remains a solid strategy at current levels, rather than trying to time the exact bottom.
If we see another leg down, our next levels to watch are $77K-$78K for BTC and around $2.2K for ETH.
The short-term picture remains messy, but our broader outlook on crypto is still bullish. For now, patience and disciplined accumulation are the name of the game. 🧘

🏦 Worldcoin is making its biggest move yet into banking

We had WLD on our watchlist, and this latest development is exactly why.
World, the identity project co-founded by Sam Altman best known as the co-founder and CEO of OpenAI, just launched World ID for banking and finance, a suite of tools that lets financial institutions verify a real human is behind transactions, account recoveries, and customer requests, all without storing personal documents.
Why now?
AI fraud is getting out of hand fast. Deloitte forecasts AI-enabled fraud losses in the US hitting $40 billion by 2027, up from $12 billion in 2023.
World’s co-founder pointed to the now-famous Arup case where an employee wired $25.6 million after joining a video call where every other participant was a deepfake. That’s the problem they’re solving.
How it works:
Proof of Human: one-time iris scan at a World Orb, confirms you’re a real unique person
Proof of Presence: selfie liveness check on your phone
Proof of Attributes: confirms nationality or age from a government ID, revealing only what’s needed
The use case for Worldcoin is becoming increasingly obvious. 🤖
Will it succeed? We don’t know. But as WLD continues to develop its products and expand their integration, the narrative is only getting stronger.

Benjamin Cowen – Has the Q4 Equity Correction Finally Arrived? (19.10.2026 Summary)
Cowen says the stock market may be starting the Q4 correction he has been warning about, even though the S&P 500 still looks fine.
Key Points
In the last three midterm years, stocks fell before the midterms. Cowen thinks that pattern is starting again.
The S&P 500 is only 2% below its high, but other markets are already falling. The Russell 2000 is down 11%, the Dow is down 7% to 8%, and the Nasdaq is down 7%.
In 2018, these markets fell first and the S&P 500 followed, so Cowen is watching to see if it does the same now.
Rising oil prices make it worse. Oil keeps climbing, and there is no sign of a fix before the midterms.
Cowen’s guess is a bit more downside, a bounce into the midterms, then another drop, like 2018.
Takeaway
Stock drops can spread to crypto. If the S&P 500 falls, it could stop Bitcoin’s breakout. This is not certain, because this pattern only works about 70% of the time.

Bankless – What the CFTC’s Proposed Rules Could Unlock for Crypto Traders(19.10.2026 Summary)
CFTC Chairman Mike Selig explains new proposed rules that would let US crypto traders use leverage and give exchanges one set of federal rules.
Key Points
The problem today: US crypto exchanges follow a patchwork of state licenses built for payment companies. Traders can’t use leverage on spot crypto, which is only available offshore.
What the new rules do: One rule lets retail traders buy crypto with borrowed money, up to about 7x. The other creates a federal exchange license, so exchanges don’t need 50 state licenses.
How it stays safe: Exchanges must keep the brokerage, exchange and clearing house separate. Selig says this is the lesson from FTX.
Why it matters: US exchanges could offer what stock brokers like Schwab already do, with federal protections.
What’s next: The Clarity Act failed, so these rules use the CFTC’s existing powers. The public comment period is open.
Takeaway
If approved, US traders get leverage on spot crypto with stronger protections, and exchanges get one clear set of rules. These are only proposals for now.
